Eihwaz II
Fort Hunt, Alexandria, VA. Orginially built as a companion fort for Fort Washington, Fort Hunt protected the Potomac River approach to Washington DC. After it was decomissioned, it had various rebirths— as the Army’s Officer’s Finance School, a training ground for the first African American ROTC program, and in WWII was converted to a top-secret (and less than legal!) prison camp for captured German submariners, serving the Allied efforts to break the Enigma code.
The name “Eihwaz” is the name for the Eldar Futhark rune for Strength
